That's different from any other Metroid how? Every area has places where you need certain upgrades.
Metroid Prime : You couldn't go into certain rooms without certain beams or go to certain parts of maps due to not having certain upgrades.
Metroid Fusion : You were blocked off of areas for not having certain suits or weapons.
Metroid Zero Mission : I remember from just playing the other day a map I couldn't go through in Brinstar because I didn't have a certain upgrade.
