I just bought Metroid : Other M for $13 Brand New
#24
Yes, I know stories can be good in video games. I know quite a few examples, but Metroid : Other M isn't bad. It's pretty good, actually. It's not the best out there, but it certainly isn't bad.

I'm currently at the part where Adam just died (No surprise if you've played through the Metroid series, since Fusion states that he died) and

 Spoiler

I'm not sure how much longer I have until the end. It doesn't seem like much, though.

I get to replay this game entirely through again when I get home, since I'm playing this on my mom's Wii. I don't have an SD card to take home with the save data on it.

Oh... One more thing to add :

From a video game stand point, you really can't hate the fact that Samus was restricted from using her abilities. If she wasn't restricted, she would be over powered from the get-go and the whole game would be insanely easy. At least this way, you get stronger as you progress, like any other game. Sure, the way it happens is a bit different, but what's wrong with that? The same concepts over and over and over get old... Even with the Zelda series, which is one of the best video game series out there, getting weapons in dungeons is a bit redundant by now. A good change in the style would be nice. At least Metroid : Other M delivers that.

These types of things remind me of what Fry said on Futurama. It was something like, "People want to see what they've seen thousands of times. As soon as you change that, they get confused and infuriated."

Edit : Oh... I was off a bit. Here it is :

"But that's not why people watch TV! Clever things make people feel stupid, and unexpected things make people feel scared!"

"TV audiences don't want anything original - they wanna see the same thing they've seen a thousand times before!"
