It's the same thing as making a bad first impression because, well, that's what it is. The rest of the album -might- be decent or great, but right now it's starting off crappy.
Artists ALWAYS debut their "meh" songs first. Always. Everyone always uses this argument when a new single comes out from an album to be released at a later date and their opinions are usually revised upon release.
