Of course, you could pull the "what if they needed the cash to feed their family" example, but that's still not the same as taking their dog away, and it's entirely situational. In any case, if they dropped money, and there's no way of me knowing how badly they needed it, I'm not going to jump to the assumption that they need the money desperately.
Why would you jump to the assumption that they cared about their dog then? They did let it roam the streets, after all.
