I'm a believer in karma. I've had things like this happen quite often working in bars and restaurants my whole life. Except for that one instance of the guy somehow dropping 8k on the floor under the table, I've had instances of finding all sorts of money lying around. Have I always given it back? Naw! If I know or suspect who it belonged to, no matter how small the amount, I've always given it back. 3 times in ONE day I had a chance to pick up a total of $55 extra bucks.
#1...lady comes out of the restroom as I am going in. (no other women in the bar mind you except me, one other co-worker and this woman) I go in the stall and find a $20 on the floor. I pick it up and come out and I see her rummaging through her pockets. Ask if she was missing a 20, she says yes, I give it back.
#2...guy puts money into the book to pay his bill. He gives it to me and says "keep the change". I walk away, look inside and realize there's NO way he meant to leave that much in there. I go back to him and tell him I think he made a mistake and meant to leave a 5 instead of a 20. He thanks me profusely and I go back to work.
#3...after work I decide to gamble a little and have a beer. I hit something on keno for $200. SWEET!!! My co-worker pays me after I cash out and I realize she gave me $20 too much. I tell her and give her the $20 back. I decide to throw $20 more into the machine. I hit something else on keno for $400.........LOL! I leave work happy I did 3 good deeds for the day and it literally paid off.
