It's not that hard to understand. Just read this post carefully.
If you're killing a mob that is more than 5 levels above the HS mule, you'll only get 110% of the monster's EXP, because there won't be any leechers in the party (it's as if you were a solo HSer).
If the mule can leech, you'll earn 110% per kill AND the party bonus EXP. And you'll notice that having a high leveled HS mule that can leech instead of a low leveled one makes a HUGE difference in EXP gain for your main.
