They used to just not care, or at the worst send you mail telling you to stop or they'd disconnect you if you uploaded too much since it slowed down their service, but they didn't charge until now.
What in the world are you doing that's using 100gb+ a month? I've got a 50gb package and rarely use more than 10 a month.
