At worst, retired older people just sit around buying things, sometimes buying more than an average working age American, but depending on their retirment budget it could be a bit less.
And I think the effect would be, at worst, on the Government Budget in medicare and SS, but that's not the people's fault for the government offering such benefits. I also think these people deserve the benefits since they paid into these services as they worked earlier in their lives.
