The other issue is that once again they've focused on graphics when it's not a necessity for handhelds. Graphic requirements really cut down on the quality of gameplay most of the time, as we see with most next gen games. And if a machine can display really good graphics then that's what people expect, regardless of whether or not it's needed. I would say good graphics are actually more of a negative than a positive.
That backpanel touch screen is such a ridiculous gimmick. I'm not going to poke the back of my NGP with my finger while holding it with one hand hoping to hit the right spot while not dropping it. Especially if it's the same weight as the first PSP, which is ridiculously heavy.
I've been a sony fangirl since the PS1 and want to see them be successful more than anything but as it is realistically, this isn't going to do it. You can rationalize what may or may not happen any way you want, but given what we've seen currently, especially in comparison to the 3DS, this is going to be a flop, at least for a while.
I actually despise DS and 3DS graphics, they look so outdated. I want more quality in my games, even if I don't care about graphics that much. Pseudo 3D in most DS games was a huge turnoff to me.
The backpanel solves every problem you may have had with emulating L2 and R2 triggers, since NGP/PSP2 is meant to have compatibility with PSX/PS2 and PSP.
By the way Uncharted is a new game and so is Resistance.
Wow a lot of hate in this thread mainly. The PSP is my first console since the PSX and I had so much fun with it you wouldn't even know. If they did so terrible in the handheld market my guess is that they would've never even tried to make a successor to the PSP.
I'm already saving for this.
The design looks sick too. It's even light and almost the same dimensions as the PSP 3000.
