My parents were part of a bowling league, and on Friday nights they brought my brothers and I with them to the bowling alley instead of hiring a babysitter. Huzzah for being an alley brat.
Tekken - The original. King was the man. I remember beating a high school boy who felt like challenging me, and him asking how old I was. When I told him I was twelve, his buddies laughed at him. It felt good.
Area 51 - This one got me really hooked. Maria (my fellow alley brat) and I played so much that we eventually memorized baddie spawn patterns and powerup locations and could reach the final boss on one or two credits. We even drew small crowds occasionally, though I had no idea why at the time. Looking back, I think it would have been pretty awesome to watch two twelve year old girls completely own a shooting game.
Virtual On - The only cabinet I ever knew of was in Japantown so I didn't get to play it much in the arcades, but man. So much awesome. Also part of why I love my Saturn.
Street Fighter Alpha 2 - I was pretty hardcore into Sailor Moon at the time, so naturally I fell in love with Sakura. I got my ass handed to me pretty bad, but I still had a ton of fun. Even though I was quiet as a mouse, in my head I got to hang out with super cool boys andgive them free wins play video games with them.
DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION - Yes. Expert doubles, bitch. Instead of using my lunch money on food, I'd starve and save it for DDR. Hooray! <3
Initial D - Played versions 1-3... SO MUCH MONEY. I must have dumped literally hundreds of dollars into this game. $10 Tuesdays and Thursdays at Boomers helped, but augh. So. Much. Money. Haha, now that I think of it, Kevin and I flirted a shitton playing this game together. I could barely reach the pedals because I'm vertically impaired, so eventually I asked him to be my booster seat. I'M SO SNEAKY RIGHT?
