Actually %stat is utterly wasted on a weapon.
%stat is additive, which means the more of it you have (on all your gear), the less each adds.
If you already have %100 total primary-stat added, getting another 8% stat on your weapon only gives you 4% more damage, as your total primary-stat goes from 200% to 208%.
Since %attack can only appear on a weapon, you can't already have lots of it, so 8% attack on your weapon will increase your damage by about 8% (doesn't apply to some buffs, as listed above).
Same for %total damage, except that as far as I know it is applied *after* all buffs and so it's a little better.
Two more useful potentials that you can have on your weapon are %crit and %ignore-def.
There's a thread somewhere around here comparing %bossdmg to %ignoredef, which is better depends on what your class is and what the boss's PDrate is.
