lol Bellocan is dead here

wat is the point of making an islander? training with skills is already painful enough.
you are stuck in a place that has like 5 maps and 10 people.

This has to be my all time favorite question.


What's the point? Well, why make any other character in the game? You have some reason for wanting it, whether it is flashy skills, awesome damage, or maybe just how you prefer to play a game.

I chose an islander because I thought it was the coolest thing. I was making a sin and while on maple island found a group of like 10 islanders in Khaini. It was just the coolest thing to me. The items are very limited and to be way godly then somebody else wasn't that big of a difference at all. Anyone could make an islander, and now you could start with absolutely nothing and become something amazing.

So, my khaini slots were full at the time, so I chose Bellocan, since it was next to it. Got it to level 16 in a couple of days in March of 2007, and then went back to my fighter. In May, for maple items, I logged in and started mass grinding. I wasn't concerned with leveling that much. The exp flew by because I was having fun looking for maple items.

I found a soul singer at level 20. I found a maple shield after that, and then a maple sword. I found a level 30 maple hat at level 26, and had my full set. That got me to level 30. After that, I just grinded now and then for various things and finally got to my maple sword.

I continued to grind, and recently got to 43 and now use a soul singer.


The thing is, before MTS anyways, islanders were about on par with each other. There wasn't a gachapon or anything. Until 2x exp cards came about, everyone was grinding at the same rate as everyone else. It was a true competition where money couldn't buy it for you.

Islanders were unique, and they still are. But now that you can pretty much get everything you want through MTS, you don't have to put a whole lot of effort into it. Some islanders quit because of MTS. Others have just gone inactive as time has gone on and they've moved on with their lives.


My guess is that islanders just aren't as cool of a thing anymore. The Top 20 ranges from lvl 39 to lvl 51. I remember when everyone was within 5 lvls of each other.


So yea, I just like the challenge of being limited with everything. And if you add all of the maps, it's more like 24 or so if you include all of the shops.

Yea, I am pretty lonely, but I'm usually on IRC or something so it isn't that big of a deal.
