Except those scenarios are not even remotely related.
Bishops were using a weapon specifically designed for another class they should've been penalized for touching in the first place, whereas AM's have had those same weapons made specifically for them suddenly lose what made them unique in the first place after having had to fight tooth and nail to get them to work right to begin with.

Quite comparable to the current situation, then. Elemental Weapons were designed in JMS (?) without Bishops in mind, thus when transferred over the penalty to Bishops should still apply. Big Bang was designed in KMS, without Elemental Weapon bonuses in mind. So why, when Big Bang is transferred over, should the bonuses be KEPT? Other than to satisfy the gamble you took.
