The only issues are centered around minor compatibility issues, most of which are easily resolved by getting newer versions of software or comparable alternatives that are supported, or outdated hardware that just doesn't have drivers anymore or is too deprecated to work properly with newer architectures and software.
Most of the griping I've read in Tech magazines like PC World regarding it is in the business field of IT where companies don't like to upgrade software all the time or stay on par with software releases for compatibility. Microsoft even said numerous times prior to 7's release to get updated versions of software. Where I work we have 16-bit MsDOS/Win3.1 software running still using DOSBox on our 64-bit machines. It's not native like it was with XP-32, but it works.
Little info on all these gripers... most of these gripers who complain about new operating systems are unseasoned or poorly educated IT technicians who fail to realize there are alternatives and easy solutions to common problems, most of which get too comfortable in a position where they work and get scared that they will have to relearn everything when something new comes out. They don't like to update anything nor take risks asking for new equipment that is up to standards and specifications of modern systems. It's only when some rogue newbie joins the work force and ousts them from their golden throne and implements newer hardware, operating systems, ideas, and solutions that work gets done faster, better, and more efficiently.
