Both in English and Portuguese, I've heard "does anyone have any doubts about the assignment/homework/lesson" and "does anyone have any questions about the assignment/homework/lesson" being used, a lot.

I don't think it's quite "doubting = questioning", but rather the other way around, question can mean both inquiry and uncertainty.
