You can advance with SP leftover, but no cross-job SP addition. Personally tested.
Blue aura... well... most people would rather make use of evasion from AYA and high damage to kill the monster first before taking excessive amounts of damage. The risk of 1/1 from bosses makes ABA not very useful during bossing, and generally most people Drain enough HP to bring HP pot cost to 0, so for general purposes you're not at a disadvantage.
But as for resistance to statuses e.g. Seduce... well... on the bright side, 5% drain means that you worry less about HP pot usage during bossing, because you're always hitting the cap (unlike... me...). As a note, a party with a Paladin will bring my Drain up to level 5 at 2%, which is just sufficient.
Note: Dispel dispells auras too, that is, dispel attacks from monsters e.g. Manon.
