I'd rather have a 9/9 party system then all in one party. It would make stuff like perma invincible with smokescreen possible, I believe?

Then let's say you bring 1 Evan, 1 Aran, 1 Battlemage, 1 Shadower, 1 DrK, 1 Bishop and 1 Mechanic. Hooray for the other 4 lucky ones from any job that get to come with you to fight this boss

This fight requires people level 190, you should also be able to bring whoever you can count with. There is no guaranty that you will find enough characters of that level or certain job to, lets say, provide HB to all parteis in expedition, let alone keep smoke screen up for the whole run. Even then, if your strategy consisted on invincibility skills for the whole fight, the sucess of it would rely on the precision of every of your players on using these skills in time, more than"who should I take?". If an expedition was able to pull this and kill the empress would you say they cheated and don't deserve it? I don't think so (Although I doubt an only shadowers/battlemages expedition would deal enough DPS to take down these bosses in 1 hour).

Wait, so if a Battle Mage cast an aura, it wouldn't affect everyone? That's just pinappling stupid. Not everybody in the party? In the exped? And isn't an exped just a big party, needed for certain bosses?

Maybe instead of overhauling the party system, they change it for bosses that you need expeditions for, where you pick a specific kind b(ie. Balrog easy), so for something like this, or the Black Mage, who is going to be way stronger, you can have 9, 10, 11 members, buffs work different (fixing the above), ect.
