I have one on my Bandit-to-be for that reason. I spent about 2M to make it when iTCG1 was first out, and I haven't attempted to scroll it for anything. That character is level 27 so I don't see any point in spending tons of mesos on it yet. 20 W/M-Def was far better than any other shield I was going to get at that time; combined with a Grilled Cheese potion it was almost as good as having GM Blessing.
Of course, I'm sure that's a silly reason. Nobody really uses shields for defense these days, right?
