Meh... I think it's a better idea just to leave the descriptions out for now. As you said, most people already know what those items are or what they can do, so it makes no sense to say it again. However, when I'm not busy, I could probably turn each item into a link to their descriptions in Basil or something.
As for the Chews and Baskets > Scrolls thing... in terms of usefulness, yes that is true, and I have stated that briefly in the FAQ. I don't see them selling more than scrolls though (I could be wrong and need help looking into that lol).
