Why are people so crazy over FMA?

While at a convention, sitting at the opening ceremony and waiting in the autograph line, the fangirls drove me CRAZY. They couldn't stop talking about Vic. When he appeared on stage, the screams hurt my ears (I was sitting right in front of them). I was there for another voice actor and couldn't care less for Vic, but I do enjoy the anime a lot for the story.

Sadly, I've yet to catch up to Brotherhood...

It's cause the appearance of raving fangirls reduces the value of enjoyment of an anime by at least 2 degrees
What's weird is that Vic has the clossest thing to Japanese voice actor/actress celebrity status out of the voice actors over in NA.
