Though, really, there's been a pretty big increase in hacking since Big Bang was implemented, at least in Bera. I could name a handful of maps right now that have been riddled with hackers since Big Bang.
I didnt know that competence was too much to ask for. We all know that events like this (where many players pitch in, but few benefit) are complete failures from the start and that the common vac hack ruins these events. The simple solution is to have players individually rewarded for their work.
I dont know enough about online games to be certain of the server sided vs client sided debate, but with what I know about programming, I'm certain just making a few things dictated by the server would significantly cut down on the hacking. Its just kind of obvious that its much harder to hack a server than the files on your own computer.
Then, I cant consider nexon competent if they arent smart enough to take legal action against hacking sites or at least have an insider collecting data on the hacks so that they could be patched ASAP.
