I think that Chief Stan is going to be somehow more involved in the story than how it is now, considering the only thing that isn't destroyed in Henesys is a statue of him. Or it could very well be Chief Stan solidified in stone like how the Cygnus were at the end of their story.
I also want to believe also that Alex, you know, Chief Stan's rebellious son, will play some sort of noble role in the story.
The end of his rather trivial quest line shows him having remorse for running away from his father, and his home. That basically sets up for a storyline where he returns post-chaos and feels enraged/empowered by the destruction of his home and/or the death of his father.
Perhaps, the Black Mage used the Black Witch as sort of a test for Empress Cygnus, to test her power -- to see if she could find a way to conquer her.
Seeing that she accomplished that, the Black Mage knew of her potential power and/or that he could manipulate her into attaining "more" power, or even, perhaps Empress Cygnus knows everything and is tied to the Black Mage more closely than we think.
Have you ever wondered how all the Cygnus Job Leaders, Nineheart, and Empress Cygnus all got turned to stone rather easily? You'd think that knights of their caliber would be able to put up a fight, or at least know what would be happening, but no, you see that they're all petrified in their neutral positions.
Oh and somehow someone on the Black Wings, I'm banking on the rabbit guy, is really a good guy.
