I actually still don't use a shield but I don't see any real difference in damage I've taken before and after BB. Iron Body is nice but I'm still taking more magic based damage than physical damage where I always go.
Most monsters higher up use more magic attacks than physical ones anyway. Unless your shield has Magic defense, all this physical defense gets more and more useless over time anyway.
