If you're disappointing in FP DoT, just use mist and spam Paralyze. 
You know what is more hilarious crappy? Adventurer Thief's Venom... it's like ubershiet damage / sec... lvl1 is almost too embarrassing for words (on my shad)... 3k damage / sec... at lvl 150... I'm sooo resetting it to lvl 0 with the all SP reset card... Whenever we get that one... :X
The only way how it's not total crap now is to use it on my Nightwalker with Venom (lvl20) in combination with Poison Sling (lvl30), so the DoT damage doubles on bosses (it stacks) to about 13k damage / sec extra.
