I don't really think this is a bad financial move for Nexon. They're banking on the fact that Big Bang will bring in more paying customers. Easier leveling means more people are likely to stick with this game, I think. When you want to stick with MS, you are more likely to spend money on it. Plus, there are still split cash shops and many people will buy NX for many of their characters (which they will make since leveling is much easier).
Also, Nexon has said before that 90% of their profits come from 10% of players. I am sure that 10% buys 2x EXP cards, but that is not their bulk expenditure. What I think is really netting them all this money is cubes, gachapon, and other things you have incentive to keep buying lots of. You don't need more than 1 or 2 2x EXP cards, but you can easily blow cubes and gachapon tickets.
