Looks hard to get used to, but it seems convenient. All the vowels bunched together, the top and middle rows have the most common letters, the least used letters are at the bottom corners...

Mmm yeah that's what a lot of Dvorak-enthusiasts talk about. They also argue that a lot of English letter sequences are composed of a sequence of vowel, consonant, vowel consonant. With Dvorak, the theory is that because you're constantly alternating left right left right (vowel consonant vowel consonant) it puts less strain on any one hand in general, and the stress is more symmetrical between your hands.

That's the theory anyway. Even though I type Dvorak, I don't lay too much importance on the details. It reduces the stress for me, but probably won't for everyone. The main reason I use Dvorak is that "I prefer it for my hands," rather than "It's the best thing in the WORLD AND EVERYONE SHOULD LEARN IT."
