Flickering internet.
#5
Behold ye now the evils of Cable Broadband Internet and all it's vile wickedness!

Cable is possibly the worst kind of internet connection you can have in a highly populated section of any town or city. Because it's a shared connection, as Ray said, as people access the internet, the bandwidth is split up and the connection speed slowly declines. This is compounded as most people have Modems that feature an always-on connection which keeps the connection alive constantly. In short, put a bunch of people in a region with Cable Internet on the same line, and you'll actually think Dial-up 56k is faster.

Every internet savvy gamer out there will tell you DSL is the best type of connection for gaming and other household general usage. Because DSL is a dedicated line, unless you share the connection with anyone in the household yourself, you will always get the full speed. And also the connection will be shared when a PC is actually on and connected. So unless you like having people runa PC 24/7/365, you will probably get full speed 75% of the day.
