While it would be rather nice, I'm going to say it's edited. It's not very hard to whip something like this up with about 10 minutes of free time. They most likely found the .png images and thought "I can spoof something with this" so had fun.
Though, I will say that their guess is rather nice. The current event ends on the 30th, doesn't it? And the Big bang patches were 2 weeks apart in KMS? So that would mean we'd get resistance somewhere mid December and the final BB patch somewhere in the last week of December, which is a rather nice time frame to end everything, if you ask me. By the time the New Year comes, we'd already be done with the Big Bang patches and thus "entering the new era of Maplestory" entirely with the start of the New Year.
I dunno, if were running things at Nexon, I'd think that'd be a very nice way to end the year, and it fits in perfectly with the context of the patches. But that's just me, I doubt Nexon thought like this at all.
