Trying to get my 4th job skills were some of my most memorable Maple experiences.
I did nothing on Maple for two solid weeks after I got my NL to 120 other than try to get into a zrun so I could get triple throw. This was before Karma Scissors. I didn't have autopot, was on the 2nd run of the night, ran out of pots, bishop ressed me, and since I was in bishop party now it healed me for the remainder of the fight, and finally after two solid weeks of effort I got my tt30 skill book. Not to mention that I had to sell off some of my precious ilbi throwing starts to pay for going on the zrun to start with.
When I made my bishop Genesis quest was a real pain, but again, another memorable experience. I went with another bishop that needed genesis, it was epic. People died, had to recruit others while we were in the cave, but in the end after an hour or so we finally got the root we needed and finished the quest.
The resurrection quest was also a great experience. It was a pain trying to do an invisible jump quest, but dropping coins on the invisible platforms really did the trick.
I remember on my BM looking for the glove you have to get for Hurricane. I mean, all of these quests even though they were difficult were very fun and I still have fond memories of them. Its like they are the final step to finally proving you are worth of your fourth job.
I am not surprised Maple is turning out this way though, if anyone has been to Maple Island lately you will see that they lowered the wood and screw requirement for your first char from 10 to 1. Thats pretty indicative of the entire direction Maple has taken.
