Are skill books not needed after big bang?

Sigh. Actually having to quest for your skills rather than having them handed for you was one of the few good things Maple ever did and they removed it.

I know. I actually had fun doing the skill quests, and felt like it made sense that you had to work for your final skills (even if the Cannon quest was glitched when I became a Corsair). Removing them out of laziness is horrible. Having to fight Kyrin to get Battleship/Super Transform? I thought that was a pretty cool idea, even if she was a pretty easy boss. Killing a bunch of monsters in the game that ride boats similar to yours so you can learn how to use your own boat better? That was a nice idea as well. Made it feel like your character was actually developing.
