Just made me curious after playing around with an F/P. What I had found was that Explosion was completely useless and Poison Breath was completely useless. Despite being 170 with 10 in every 4th job skill, I ended up doing everything that wasn't DPS on a boss with Poison Mist and Teleport Mastery because unless the monsters were Poison Weak, Misting a map was faster than Paralyzing through. Only significant issue I found was it burned HP potions ridiculously fast, but I cleared out bigger maps a lot faster.
So, I was wondering what everyone's opinions were for F/P builds post-Big Bang.
My general theory was max Teleport Mastery first, with one point in Explosion at 71, followed by maxed Poison Mist, then 11 Spell Booster with prerequisite. Follow that up with Amplification, and then Explosion to ready up for a really mob heavy training area where you can sacrifice that speed for the mob count. After Explosion, have maxed Elemental Composition, and then Decrease, even though no monsters really appear with resistances any time soon. Seal after that since even by now, I don't feel there are many monsters that use attacks that are worth Sealing, if Sealable at all. End off with Resist, and either max it or Booster.
Explosion is so ridiculously slow, I don't see it being worthwhile to use at all that early on unless you can OHKO with it. If you can OHKO with maxed Explosion, you can KO with maxed Fire Arrow + 1 Teleport Mastery, so I only see use of it to possibly lure at that early stage.
In terms of DPS, Explosion only does 377%/s Normal (6) Boostered I believe. Fire Arrow does 430.6%/s. Sadly, you can only use one Teleport per Explosion, so despite it being so slow, you cannot fit more Teleports to boost its power like Poison Mist.
Explosion with Teleport Mastery only does 615.1%/s, and Fire Arrow with Teleport Mastery does at least 847.2%/s, both boostered.
That being said, Poison Mist's advantage is it doesn't limit itself to only six monsters. You can easily Mist an entire flat map like C-2, and with Teleport Mastery, clean up while you're cycling Mist at the same time since it's completely flat, and this facilitates the use of Fire Arrow as well. Since the map is particularly wide, Explosion has especially less usefulness in my opinion compared to a map like Pirates where everything is easily condensed in the centre.
After the 15 second duration, you've done 2400% damage to a monster without actually having to concentrate fire on them. Monsters at that level have 25000 HP, which only requires a 1k range to kill in a single DoT cycle, and the Mist itself lasts 40 seconds to re-DoT monsters that spawn or survive if you're at a higher level.
If the map is smaller so it does not facilitate Mist cycling, then they can be cast between spawns to DoT monsters and reduce hits to kill anyways, or double channeling Misting is still very much possible.
Discuss?
