I don't see why figuring out the person you loved being a trap is such a horrifying experience. Not personifying anyone here, but it seems like some straight men run around covering their bumholes all day for fear of violation. The fear is irrational. The ones that want the bum are more interested in those who are interested.

I do, however, question the motives of the OP.

Because they've been lying to you the whole time. Regardless of their reasons, they've been deceiving you. I'm not the type of person to condemn someone for eternity for something like that, I understand it's hard to come clean when it comes to a truth as awkward as that. Sure, they'd hope that by the time you found out, you'd understand and have loved them to the point where you don't care, but can you truly trust them after that? Can you trust that they won't deceive you again and hide the truth, playing with your emotions along the way?

I see where you're coming from, really. If they came clean with their lie around the start, then I feel it's more forgivable, but if they keep the lie living until you're well developed into your relationship, then it only makes things worse.

Then again, this is coming from someone that has absolutely no faith in relationships at all, with rather twisted views on what's personally found acceptable and not. I'm sure it's not that big of a deal for someone that's already tasted the lies of love enough to get used to it. Kinda like how nobody likes sardines on their first try. (I've never tried sardines)
