I'm even going as far as to give her everything she needs for a relatively healthy bust, and a body figure that resembles Luka! I won't love her any other way.

Just to say, Remilia existed as a name before the people who made Touhou were born.

I dunno, I looked into it and couldn't find anything about the name before. Didn't really look that deep into it though, but it certainly does sound like a real name, so wouldn't be surprised if it did. I looked it up for that reason, but I really didn't find any record of the name.

Alright, cool, no problems here. I concur with you here. I think it's wrong to put something that becomes a social stigma upon the child for something it didn't want or ask for in the first place. It should only be of in the child's volition if it wants to have something considered to be a social stigma placed upon it, but at birth, you'll just have to let them grow up naturally and with everyone else. I do agree with your views on bullying, and am going to disagree with Spidey on the below statement:



You're understating the psychological importance of names. While you acknowledge it has impact, you say its equal to any other bullying, like bullying little Apu because he's the short Indian kid who smells funny. They aren't the same. It's a very difficult topic to really explain, but essentially, it really challenges a very big part of their identity. At this point, they can't heal the mental wounds inflicted by this even if they changed their name, as it has already made an impressionable emotional impact on them and changing their name wouldn't remove their memory of the fact that this name wasn't their original name. I do agree with Sarah on this.

I see your point, and agree that there are various levels of bullying that could potentially be worse at a psychological level to the child than others. That's not to say a child being bullied for being smelly couldn't possibly have taken a heavier blow to their ego than a child that was bullied for their name, but it's just more likely.

Really though, my point was more that it's pretty much impossible to "bullyproof" your child. They may even be bullied for having a generic name. It'd have a similar effect on them as well. Instead of thinking "why couldn't my parents give me a more common name", it becomes "why couldn't my parents give me a more unique name".

If you become OCD about your child being bullied, you'll just end up making things uncomfortable for both you and your child. I'm not saying you shouldn't pay any mind to the possibility of bullying, but don't focus so much on the idea, because there's no real way to fully combat it. Bullies will be bullies, and they'll bully if they want to.

I really appreciate your effort to stand up for me, but at this point, it's no longer really about me. At least, I don't think so. Also, a certain series had nothing to do with the Beatrice.

It was less about sticking up for you and more about giving my own say on the situation. Since her post was lashed out at you, it pretty much just turned into a defensive post, but I would have done the same if she simply made a post directed at nobody in particular.

And yeah, I'm well aware that you could have gotten the name Beatrice from many sources aside from Umineko. In fact, there are quite a few literary works that could be considered classical that use this name. I was just following Sarah's line of reasoning a bit more. Because, if you pick a name that's not common, then it's obviously from a Japanese source. Even if the names aren't Japanese at all. I mean, how dare you like a name you've heard from somewhere? How could you even think about picking out a name for your child before they're born? How could you call that personal? You must pick the first name that comes to your head when you see their face, because that's how it's truly personal. You couldn't possibly pick a name from the heart if you didn't spontaneously
