He showed a complete lack of trust for you by sharing one of your secrets you didn't want to get out. He's obviously shown that he does not value you as a friend, regardless of his emotional tug. There are certain things you forgive in a friendship, I understand, but forgiving and then becoming his friend again probably isn't such a good idea. Forgive, but do not forget what he did to you in the past.
You can choose to not be a friend and not hate him. There is a middle road here. I encourage you to take it.
