Moarning sucks. It's a horrible feeling, but it last only a short while. Unless you push your self, things tend to blow by after a month or so. Losing a limb fucks you for live. I'm right handed; if I lost my right arm, I'd have to learn to type one handed, to write with my left, to get dressed with one arm. I might even need special clothing. <.< If I ever got attacked or into a fight, I'd be screwed - legs only work so much, missing an arm leaves me wide open. I'd almost certainly be ridiculed, and so forth.
tl;dr
People get over death. It stops affecting your life sooner or later.
Limb loss doesn't.
