Whoa, tell us more about this. Specifically, what sort of things are people to doing in an attempt to protect themselves? Is there any sort of curfew or does it not matter because the cartels will abduct/kill you at any time of the day?

Some house have a lot of doors, barred doors, barred fences, barb wire, dogs, etc. Just like these. Here's Google Maps street view of where I used to live.

No, there is no curfew or anything like that because the time of day doesn't matter anymore. It could be at high noon, it could be during the night time, it could be on the busiest street during rush hour.

Aren't you living with your grandparents now?

I stay with my grandparents in Juarez during the weekdays because of school. I head over to El Paso on the weekends with my family.

Hey Loose, if more drugs were made legal in America do you think that would make it a safer place? It was my impression that drug running is a big reason it's so dangerous around there, but I don't really know.

That's hard to tell, because drugs aren't really a big factor now, but who knows, I don't work for any of these cartels. It's like they went from drugs to protection racket to kidnappings to murders, because the government doesn't do anything. The thing I'd really like is for those super soldier agency of elite bad ass mercenaries to come here and take out all of the bad guys. I don't remember the exact details, but I think it was around a year ago that that agency offered their services to the Mexican government, though they would work on their own without intervention of the government and offered a hefty price. Of course, the corrupt ass government we had denied their offer...
