The problem is, though, if the displacement of the googolians of atoms of that stick does not happen simultaneously, it would take an equally long time for your poke to be felt. I just don't see why it should not happen simultaneously.
I googled about it after posting, actually. The atoms would move at the speed of sound. What is the speed of sound of your stick? I have no idea. The speed of sound in air is around 1,200 km/h at sea level. In steel, it is over 3.2 km/s.
