There has been a raise in concern about MapleStory’s compatibility with Windows Vista or 7 especially with 64-bit systems. These players have experienced frequent disconnections from the game, while at the same time other players have experienced no issues at all.
If you are experiencing disconnection issues with MapleStory and are using Windows Vista or 7 please try these solutions.
If you encounter the “This program has known compatibility issues” error
When this error message occurs please click the “Run program” option. You can also check the box “Don’t show this message again” if you do not want the Program Compatibility Assistant to alert you again.
Run MapleStory in Compatibility Mode
MapleStory is not optimized for Windows Vista or 7. However, changing the compatibility mode of the program may reduce your game issues.
- Go your MapleStory client folder (usually located at C:\Nexon\MapleStory).
- Right-click MapleStory.exe
- Access the Compatibility tab
- Under Compatibility Mode check the box “Run this in compatibility mode for:” and select Windows XP Service Pack 2.
- Click OK and restart your computer.
Your anti-virus may prompt you a confirmation to run the program so be sure to allow it. If Program Compatibility Assistant appears please click the “Run program” option.

Your computer’s Operating System (Please indicate if you are using 32-bit or 64-bit)
Your computer’s Graphics Card (Make and Model)
Your Computer’s Memory (RAM)
Your Internet Connection Speed
Frequency of the Disconnection (how many times an hour & be as detailed as possible)
Because every computer specs can differ we are trying to examine and resolve the disconnection issues for players that may be a result of the operating system. Thank you!
