The issue over "what the VP does every day" is a non issue. There isn't much defined by the job itself as to what they do. In reality, their only defined function is President of the Senate. Modern presidents have given the VP an elaborated role in a position like his other cabinet members, but that is not a legally defined duty. Truth be told, I would say that the VP position, like the President's position, is one which requires learning-by-doing, and prior "experience" is basically not involved in reality.
In truth, VP is just an in-case-of-emergency-break-glass president. Their real function is to be president if the commander in chief is unable to perform their duties. Basically, it's a buffer between the President in the executive branch and the Speaker of the House in the legislative.
Yes, the general population of the United States IS that bigoted.

Quote:Sarah Palin is a homophobic, pro-life psycho. This is true of all mainstream Republicans. It is also apparently true of roughly half of the voting populous.

Quote:Then a female VP running mate. Was done before by the Dems in the '80s. Not a big deal, even by the cloaked bigot nature of the media (that is to say, making a big deal about having a woman or Black candidate is counterproductive to the idea of equality). Even so, I did notice media outlets qualifying it by saying "first woman VP on ticket by REPUBLICANS"... nice touch, jackasses.
Quote:I just dont want another republican in office. It's getting old, quickly.I'm quite sure that it would get old just as easily with a Democrat in there. It's a broken system, but sadly, this particular system is basically impossible to break as far as the presidential election is concerned. You might be able to elect Independents, Greens, Libertarians, etc., on a local level, on a state level, even into Congress, but an offshoot candidate is lucky to break 10% popular vote, and like I said before (actually, might have been a different thread now that I think about it...), a portion of the popular vote won't get you a single vote in the electoral college unless you're able to win a state, and 0 is definitely a lot less than 270.
