Mass Effect.

Mass Effect. Its a space opera series where you play as the indeterminate gender/background/military history/race/"age" human who's only known by his/her last name, Shepard. Your ultimate goal is to be a big goddamned hero and try to save the galaxy. You acquire a group of teammates, both human and alien, to help you with this end. Eventually you become recognized by the galatic system of government and are granted a title of Spectre, which is basically a do-whatever-you-want-and-get-away-with-it ticket. In the first game you track down a rogue Spectre called Saren and his hoard of robotic minions called Geth.
