Well, we're not talking about potentialing since you don't want to consider the benefit of a shield, so that means equal in level doesn't mean anything. Also, 2H scrolls and 1H scrolls give identical bonuses, so the scrolls should be thrown out as well for our purposes here. And it's a given that we'll be comparing things of similar level, otherwise the comparison is worthless.
What's left is that average 2 WATK less on the swords and 1 ATK speed faster. On the whole, 2H swords will always be 10% stronger (1.2 * 1.1 = 1.32) in actual attacks and the 2H sword will slightly out-DPS the 1H sword but not by much. It's for this reason that you likely see many poorer KMSers going for 2H swords because the damage output is slightly stronger.
