However, I still think that Mephisto should be held suspect. What bothers me is that Mephisto is openly claiming to be the Terran detective. If he is being honest here, then this seems like a foolish move to me. The blocked kill last night was probably on him. How long can he be protected? Both mafia factions are still around and both mafia factions would love to see him out of the picture. Terran players can't communicate privately, and getting himself killed on Day 2 or 3 and losing such a powerful ability so early in the game is a really bad idea.
If he is Zerg, it makes perfect sense for him to hunt down a few Protoss to gain trust, and to prevent himself from being removed. Zerg players can communicate, and he could even be a puppet claiming to have detection abilities while a partner feeds him the results from their night actions. I think Zerg could be setting up a really big win here while we focus on taking out Protoss. We have NO idea who any of the Zerg players are right now, and I think that's a problem.
And I agree that MetaSeraphim could also be a Protoss member.
I can understand where you're coming from, and it may seem like a bad move to reveal myself so early, but with 2 mafia factions performing kills I'll consider my job as detective done well if I take out 2, or even 3 mafia members before dying. Even better if they're all the same faction. As DualReaver said, taking out one faction and lowering night deaths to a maximum of one helps us a lot in the long term, even if it means I get taken out early as a result. Also, consider that if I were to have kept my mouth shut on these two successful detections and then gotten night killed oh, say, tonight or the next night, you'd be out two successful lynches and my useful information would have gone to waste. As detective, silence is not the best policy, imo. Beyond that, if I really were fake-claiming, the real detective could counter-claim and oust me, which has not happened.
LX, considering the roles that have been revealed so far were all hero units or SC2 plot-relevant characters, I think it's safe to assume many of the roles are either SC2 characters or unique units. I could be wrong, but even the Protoss' generic killer was Mohandar, a hero unit, rather than just a regular Void Ray. Overseer doesn't fit that definition, nice try though.
