McCain picks Sarah Palin

A smarter move would be to pick somoene because of their policies and history, not because they have a vagina.

The idea here is that her policies are in line with what his own platforms are.

She's a young, good looking lady who represents all the same ideals he himself stands for. Couldn't have made a better choice in my opinion, unless there is another good looking lady who represents all of his ideals and is also an established figure in national politics. I don't think there is such a lady.

Problem is, a bunch of Hillary supporters voted her just because she's a women.

A bunch of Hillary supporters also plan on voting McCain out of spite. A bunch of Black people will vote Obama just because he's Black. A bunch of voters will vote based on who has a better name. A bunch of voters will vote based on who they've heard more of.

I don't think it's a good idea to pay any mind to what idiots will vote for.

Unless they plan on assassinating McCain and making Palin the new president I don't think they will vote outside their party, especially for such an unknown.

You don't know how stupid people can be, do you? I guarantee there will be women voting for policies they hate just because a woman is on the ticket. The sad part is that many of them won't even know what policies they are voting for that are against their own ideals. The sadder part is that some of them WILL.

I can't believe he went with a political chess move over someone who's thoroughly qualified for the position of filling in if McCain croaks.

And he's right, really. The only way to learn is by doing. Technically speaking, the person best prepared for the office is the one who has been there before. Incidentally, the job best suited probably to prepare someone for the job would be governor, and this woman has spent some time as governor (although I suppose the person you're referring to would be Mitt Romney, so you're probably right anyway). Really though, I'd like to see more governors stepping up, and less congressmen. Talk about political moves... it's not like the Senate or House does a single thing to prepare a person for the Oval Office.

NPR says that someone edited her wikipedia entry so that it showed her in a much better light (played down the beauty queen, played down the brother-in-law scandal, added a nice quote, and so on) just yesterday. Kinda...suspicious, no?

Not surprising, I would think. Some people might not have cared enough to contribute, but with her achieving national recognition, more people surely came to the page, which would, in turn, bring more contributors. So long as things aren't REMOVED, I don't think it's a problem, but even if it is, would you really be upset with an entire presidential campaign because a lone person decided to make sure their favored side gets a shine of positive light?

I think it's ridiculously irresponsible. He's old, he might die, and if he wins we have a good chance of having someone who has been governor of Alaska for just over a year with no national experience be president of the country. Not what I was looking for in a McCain VP pick.

Protip: being a congressman won't prepare a person to be president.
Protip#2: being a governor won't even do that much better of a job at preparing either.

Saying "oh boo hoo they don't have experience", you might as well be thinking that presidents should be president for life. The only job which gives them the required experience is the job itself. You can't say "they don't have enough experience" because NO ONE has enough experience going into a first term.

I find it compellingly ironic with Mccain blasting Obama in various TV and Net Ads for his readiness and experience to be a leader, when he himself chooses a fairly unknown governor with very little experience on the national level who could potentially be the next Commander in Chief of the nation.

The difference here is that Obama spent a short time as a "community organizer", then had a few relatively short stints in legislative government, ending with him as representative of Illinois in the Senate. Mrs. Palin had a short time in local city council, followed by a few relatively short stints in executive government, ending with her as governor of Alaska. And in case you didn't know, the President is the head of the executive branch, not the legislative.

Like Obama with his "chess move" of "Im gonna pick a VP that will make people forget that I have no political experience" lulz

I think it's hilarious people would criticize one side but not the other. They're both doing the same thing; playing a game.
