Read a bit of it, although I don't really need anti-scaming advice, and thought the friend transfer one was interesting.
A better way would be to know how to choose your friends. Sure, it's possible that the guy you knew for a year and have been great friends with will scam you, but it's not very likely. Besides, if your long-time friend of a year wanted to transfer 50mil, wouldn't you feel sort-of resentful if they wasted your time and doubted your trust and chose to use you to transfer 5 mil at a time 10 times instead of all at once? I mean I wouldn't make a big deal out of it, but it would leave the impression of 'this isn't really someone I want to get much closer to. Maybe they want to scam me and don't want to give me the chance to make the first move'. Here's a couple of general rules to follow:
1: If you're going to transfer something very valuable, make sure you haven't been in any bad arguments recently and that you're actually on good terms. Watch out for hints of your friends wanting you to trust them with something nice of yours.
2: I know it sounds biased, but older players are a lot less likely to scam than newer ones. You can lie about your age, but acting will only take you so far. Although you shouldn't befriend people because they're older than the average maple, someone with a job would be a lot less likely to try to give up a good friendship over the equivilent of a 10-20 dollar item.
Quote:A more sensible solution to this scam is to transfer in small portions. If you need to transfer 50 mil, give your friend 5 mil at a time. Losing 5 mil to a scammer is better than losing 50.
