Your browser also synchronizes with any website. Sometimes, the computer isn't able to get all the data at once (or lose some packets), and need to tell that back to the server. Nevertheless, my idea is there: You get data from google. If you don't get that data, your screen will either stay as it is, or you will get a message that the connection to the server closed or blah blah. If the MapleStory-server lags or packets doesn't appear, your client won't LAG (as in using more processes. Obviously, if the client doesn't get the packets, then nothing that will only happen server-side happens).
larmie Wrote:That's a separate issue from connection distance which also has to do with lag as people closer to the server will interact with the game world more frequently than you do, causing laggy environment. It also lags everyone who's in the same map as you as it messes with the synchronization. A person with slower computer feels/has the same effect. This is wrong. There's nothing that says that my computer will send more packets to the server because I'm closer. That doesn't even make sense. Sure, if everyone started up their client NOW, then the first 10 packets might have an effect on those closest. However, people send packets to the server all the time, and every client send the same amount of packets. The server send the same amount of packets back. So the only packet-lag is because of travelling speed.
