You forgot to mention that you can easily avoid going the way back by changing channels or using a New Town Scroll.

As for the conversation of how many medals you'll need for +12 equipment, I'll calculate my level 57's daily medal toll just for reference:

Bass gave me 368 medals at the beginning. The female researcher's repeatable quests give me 18 medals per completion so that's 3 x 18 = 54. The other two quests give me 3 medals each per day. So at maximum I can get 60 medals from quests per day(and a few from the timer I guess). To get to +12 stats on all my Visitor Suit armors I will have to get 50 x 48, or 2400 medals. I have so far got 420 or so. That leaves me around 2000 left to go. 2000 divided by 60 equals 33.3 days.

I think it is safe to say Nexon doesn't want me to have +12 stat armors.
