If anyone honestly believes these are gonna stick around, something tells me that they're wrong. 90% of the time.
The problem here seems more like he had a wrong guess. Nothing wrong there. But when you try to make it canon, and start arguing even when shown evidence, there's a slight ego problem there.
If you really want to improve, learn from your mistakes. Or else, you'll be stuck forever.
