Not strictly true. The calculator values are usually only 13 digits accurate or so. But you never really need to have beyond 10^-13 accuracy, even if you could use it in the first place.
And memorizing coefficients of the continued fraction expansion of pi converges faster digit-for-digit than the actual decimal representation I believe.
