There's no sign of Monster Book in KMS right now. As of right now, though, there's a lot that would need to be done:
1. All the Monster levels and stats are different. This means the cards would have to be redesigned to fit in the new color level ranges.
2. Monsters' locations changed radically, so all the location pages would have to be rewritten, as well as the lore passages.
3. The World Map now displays a list of what monsters spawn on each map when you hover over the dot, so that section of the monster book is effectively useless.
So you can see if they do want to reimplement it, they've got a lot of work ahead of them. The strange thing is, though, that even just prior to Big Bang, KMS was making new monster cards, and the monster book was actually getting more useful. Look at the durability weapons, for example: "20% bonus damage on monsters of the Spirit type" - the only way to tell whether a monster is spirit type or not is via the "Episode" tab of the monster book. As of right now in KMS, there's no way to know.
What I'm hoping for at this point is a new system that's similar to monster book, but doesn't require such ridiculous amounts of effort to collect data on monsters. this way we'll still get the benefit of drop lists, weaknesses and resistances, monster stats, etc. in game Hopefully it would also take into account our previous card collection and give us credit for those under the new system, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Ideally, i'd like to see the monster-capturing skill that Wild hunters have given to all classes, then in order to gather data on monsters you'd need to capture one and do something to collect data (Take it to a researcher NPC, do something like a magnifying glass to analyze on the fly, etc.) You can carry 5 monsters with you at a time, but it doesn't work on bosses, so we'd have to figure something to do for them. Either way, at this point i'm thinking a completely overhauled Book is the only hope. If there's no sign of it by the final BB patch then the old monster book can probably be declared officially dead.
Monster types are actually just flat out wrong in gMS, such as time temple monsters being listed as spirits when they're actually devils and dragonoir being listed as an insect when it's actually a reptile.
