I don't know how to make gifs, but the effect when you're standing in the same map as your spouse is just a simple tiny twinkling star (like what you'd see on a clear night, not an actual star). When you're standing near each other, it color in the back fades between purple and light green, while the stars move along the lines while twinkling.
